Project SNAP

Project SNAP is a federally funded program created to assist active SNAP E & T participants for transportation services for job skills training and employment. Participants receiving TANF cash benefit participants or any type of transitional benefit are not eligible for Project SNAP, but are welcome to enroll in our Go To Work program.  Project SNAP is a free program as long as the participant is actively enrolled in SNAP E&T.

All participants must be enrolled in an active SNAP case of a participating SNAP E&T local DSS city.

You MUST have an active case in one of the following cities below to participate in Project SNAP:

Hampton Roads: Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Newport News, Hampton, Virginia Beach

Central Virginia: Richmond

All referring agencies must have a current service agreement on record with Go To Work.

Q: How do you enroll clients?

A: Complete the enrollment form below. You may enroll as an agency representative or individual. The form requires the client’s name, address, DOB, SSN, phone number, email, SNAP case number, LDSS city, and social worker’s name and phone number.

Verification of eligibility must be completed by our office to confirm enrollment.

Go To Work, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, began August 2017 allowing individuals to obtain job opportunities that were limited due to limited public transportation and long wait times in between transit. As our program progressed, the city of Richmond began to express needs in other areas. We quickly realized the need for employment transportation was great and began researching in hopes of one day becoming a statewide solution for the state of Virginia.
